This rural mail carrier was a rather religious-minded fellow. One day he stopped to deliver mail at the farm of a Catholic who was grunting and sweating at the job of pulling a sixty-foot plastic hose from his water well. He moaned about how difficult the task was. The mail carrier assured him: "Remember, the Lord is always with you." But the farmer wiped his brow and retorted: "Maybe, maybe, but I had to pull that hose out all by myself."
