Fue, más que una noche de debate, una oportunidad para aprender, para proponer y reflexionar acerca de las salidas que tiene México ante lo que se considera una de las más graves crisis de su historia por la violencia del narcotráfico y la incapacidad de la clase política para sacar adelante al país. Más de 300 personas asistieron al evento "México ahora o nunca" celebrado el sábado pasado en Burbank y convocado por el periodista del Canal 52, Rubén Luengas, y por el productor de la estación radiofónica KPFK, José Benavides, y la co productora Ana Saldaña de Anáhuac Soul Productions con el fin de analizar lo que pueden hacer los mexicanos de este lado de la frontera por su país de origen. Al evento acudieron como panelistas el reconocido historiador mexicano Lorenzo Meyer, la periodista Anabel Hernández, ganadora de varios premios internacionales por sus libros de periodismo investigativo y de denuncia y el profesor venezolano Miguel Tinker Salas, especialista en historia de Latinoamérica. Participó también el experto en arte y cultura Gregorio Luke, quien hizo una presentación audiovisual sobre las vicisitudes y aportaciones de los inmigrantes latinos a Estados Unidos. "We are urging the public to join, to make questions and not only to stay looking at what is happening in Mexico... Many people want to understand how the country has rotten, what can they do about it," Mexican journalist and Telemundo 52 news anchor Rubén Luengas declares, as host of the debate. One of the speakers is the historian, journalist and political scientist Lorenzo Meyer, who says Mexican intellectuals "have the obligation of attending the 10 per cent of compatriots living abroad," noting that "is important to also listen to what is being said in Mexico about the relations with the United States." Other speakers participating are the journalist and author Anabel Hernández and the Latin American issues professor Miguel Tinker Salas. The debate "Mexico Ahora o Nunca" (Mexico Now or Never) will be preceded by an audiovisual conference, dictated by the Latin American art expert Gregorio Luke. "We will talk about the inmigration phenomenon in the United States, and will also address the humanitarian and economical benefits of an inmigration reform," Luke says.
